A leading Shrewsbury IT company and Shropshire Chamber of Commerce patron has joined the team at Shrewsbury Town Football Club.

Proving that they really are ‘on the ball’ for the New Year, specialist IT-based services provider Darwin ITC has just completed the supply and installation of a state-of-the-art computer and telecommunication backup system for the club’s Prostar Stadium.

Based at Sweetlake Business Village at Longden Road in Shrewsbury, Darwin ITC has sourced two SRT 3000 UPS servers and a further four more Smart 620 model Un-interupted Power Supply units in a special deal to provide the club with total IT back-up protection and supply in the event of a power cut or system failure.

Mike Minton, managing director of Darwin ITC said that the new equipment, costing nearly £7,000, was bought by Superblues, a group of Shrewsbury Town FC fundraising volunteers which boasts a membership of 500 ardent supporters.

Sponsored by local businesses, the Superblues organises various events and prize draws throughout the year to raise money for equipment for the club.

Superblues committee member Ron Brown said: “We are very grateful to Mike and his team at Darwin ITC for supplying this equipment to ensure that the football club can concentrate on their game and not worry about technical IT issues.”

Mike Minton added: “As ‘Town fans’ ourselves we were delighted to install this essential hardware to provide security and support for the computers and communication systems at the stadium.

“In this day and age, any small power blip can result in major failure and incapacitation of essential communications and could even cause the abandonment of a football match if safety was ever compromised.”
